| Located
just north of
Orlando between Altamonte
Springs and Deltona along Interstate
4 near Lake Jessup and Lake Apopka,
Longwood - the oldest city in Seminole
County - was founded in 1878 and named
after a fashionable Boston suburb.
The Russian Czarist, Mr. P.A.
Demens, discovered the area, opened
up a lumber mill and brought the railroad
through the Longwood community.
As business and tourism grew, the
City became known as the "Friendly
Crossroads." We are proud
to say, with the influx of people
from almost every state in the Union,
that we still consider ourselves as
the "Friendly Crossroads."

During
the first half of the 1800's, several
forts were established on real estate
in Central Florida as bases for military
action. When the threat of Seminole
Indian attacks receded, many settlers
moved to Longwood and established
orange groves and other crops in the
area. They sent word to the North,
speaking of the Florida climate and
warm weather. Soon, more and more
moved to the Central Florida area
to build their houses. |
 |
Longwood
soon became inundated with entrepreneurs,
small business owners, churches and
houses. Many of these early buildings
are still in existence today in downtown
Longwood |
|
and
many are on the National Register of Historic
Places. New economic and real estate
development opportunities were brought to
the area in the 1960's and 1970's, fueled
by both the space industry and the development
of Walt Disney World and other attractions.
Angela Chapman and John Hambrick, Orlando
Realtors, can help with real estate for investment,
retirement or for those wanting to take advantage
of Longwood's small town character and beautiful
weather. They know how to bring
buyers and sellers together, so give them
a call if you need to sell
your Longwood home. |

The
City prides itself on providing a favorable
atmosphere to the real estate development
and enhancement of commercial and industrial
uses. There are approximately 465 real estate
acres devoted to commercial use and approximately
355 acres for industrial purposes within the
City. New developers are always welcome
by staff to meet and review their location/development
needs and discuss all aspects of permitting
activities and approvals.
Longwood
is unique in that it provides a comfortable,
safe, small town atmosphere while being nestled
within a larger, dynamic metropolitan area
which is internationally known for its ambiance
and attractions. You will surely love
the tree-lined, brick streets and park benches,
and the quiet charm. |
| The
Historic City of Longwood takes collective pride
in that a significant portion of its central
area is on the National Register of Historic
Places. The combination of this Old Florida
charm and the City’s dedication to attracting
new and dynamic industrial enterprise warrants
careful examination by newcomers. We welcome
all your interests. Known for its
country club developments, ours is a wonderful
residential community with recreation for boating,
swimming, canoeing n the Wekiva River, golfing
on some of the best golf courses, horseback
riding, biking, jogging, and walking trails..
