Lake Nona YMCA Family Center
shares a building with North Lake Park Community
School and is located in the middle of a City
park. A partnership comprised of three private
and two public entities made this innovative
project possible: Lake Nona Property Holdings
Inc., Orlando Regional Healthcare System, the
City of Orlando, the Central Florida YMCA, and
Orange County Public Schools.
This project is the first of its kind in the
nation. By sharing resources, hundreds of taxpayer
dollars were saved, a community hub was created,
and the public elementary school was built much
quicker than if the county had constructed it.
The budgets of each organization involved in
the partnership go further now. The City of
Orlando provides the space; Lake Nona Development
provides the landscaping and design; the YMCA
provides quality health and wellness programs
for the entire family; and the school provides
learning with a variety of resources it would
not otherwise have.
The Family Center has a state-of-the-art wellness
center, outdoor pool, aerobic room, spinning
classroom and gymnasium. Members have access
to the outdoor walking trail, tennis & basketball
courts, and sports fields.
