Long
Lake is a spring-fed lake, located within
the city limits of Oviedo, Florida, and
there are approximately 70 property owners
around the lake. Kingsbridge West
was cut out of the trees on real estate
on the southwest shore. Shortly
afterwards, Kingsbridge East took over
the southeast shore.
In the
past couple of years, the docks and
number of boats has increased, but there
are still only a handful of regular
users of the water. On weekends
and holidays, it gets a little crowded,
but for the most part there is enough
water to go around. The off-peak
times produce excellent skiing conditions.
The lake is wooded around the perimeter
and is quite sheltered. It is
long from north to south, so the prevailing
easterly winds don't affect the water
very much.

The
real estate selection in 1964 of the site just
south of Oviedo for the University of Central
Florida, then known as Florida Technological
University, promised greater growth for the
area. Today, Oviedo is home to around
13,000 residents.
